Hotel Estherea Amsterdam

This hotel with a rare female name used usually in Latin names of exotic species, is a romantic and unusual place to stay. Located in the old city centre at the Singel canal, it has been run for generations by the Esselaar family. It feels like hundred or more years old, but it has been established only in 1942, at first as a pension and later as a hotel. Today Estheréa is one of best four star hotels in Amsterdam. It is comfortable, quiet and elegant. Its service is attentive, discrete and dependable.

Traditional in its romantic décor, the hotel has beautiful fabrics, drapes, crystal chandeliers, old style wall papers, lamps. The rooms at Estheréa are not very big, exceptionally clean and comfortable. Several of them overlook the canal (surcharge €45,-) and some rooms have air-conditioning. The bathrooms are relatively spacious for the European standards and they have comfortable bath and shower and often even a double sink. Nothing really modern here in the interior - no modern design, no minimalism, no oriental influence. Just a very good, comfortable hotel, with a flawless service.

A full choice, tasty breakfast at Estheréa (surcharge €14,-) is served in an elegant, eating room, usually full of people. There is also a reading room, a small bar (drinks with a surcharge), and a lobby, where you always can have a cup of excellent gratis coffee or hot chocolate from the machine. The hotel has a lift to its upper floors.

At Hotel Estheréa, one child up to 12 years of age, may stay free in the parent’s room. The hotel has triple and quadruple rooms. We recommend this hotel for a stay with teenage children as well as family holiday with small kids. Front desk may well arrange a baby sitter at a reasonable charge. Hotel Estheréa atmosphere is unique and inspiring. Your children will enjoy staying there, not less than you.
