Hotel Patou Amsterdam

This is a boutique hotel located in the street of the leading fashion shops – P.C. Hooftstraat. Most exclusive street in Amsterdam is basically small and quiet. Only the luxury cars slowly aiming for a rare parking place and the utterly laid-back people walking leisurely the sidewalks indicate its character. Inside one of its narrow and essentially modest 19th c. town houses, above the gourmet brasserie, Dutch minimalist architect Jen Alkema built the Hotel Patou.

This is ultimately a very small (12 rooms), great looking hotel. There is some aura of fashion and design about it, the same as in the street outside, but do not expect big spaces, wide open halls or restaurants here – Patou is as its name – intimate, elegant, putting an accent on the looks. Named after Jean Patou, a French fashion designer of the 1920s’ (famous bringing in fashion comfortable knit clothes and the timeless perfume “Joy”) the hotel features one of his drawings in each of the rooms. But do not get mislead by this historical pedigree - all rooms at the Amsterdam Patou are air-conditioned, the towels at Patou seem bigger that its showers, flat screen TV’s give you the choice from the cable and the Patou service is second to none – well informed, helpful, polite. But then again – at Patou they are concierge – like in a Paris flat building, years ago.

The feel of Patou is not only fashionable, but also intimate and modern. You will be able to value innovative architectural solutions, quiet atmosphere of dim lights, dark chocolate wenga walls and walk in white marble showers. The location of Hotel Patou is also unique - just 5 minutes walking to the Museumplein, similar distance to Vondelpark and to the Leidseplein. This small comfortable hotel is certainly one of the best in its kind in town.
