The clever folks at leaveyourluggage.com have created a service that is so simple and sensible it is amazing nobody thought of it before. Rather than spending the last day in Amsterdam dragging suitcases around, visitors can sign up online and have their bags delivered to the airport ready for collection. It is the perfect service for those who don’t want to waste any of their precious time in the city.
How it works
There is no physical location for the Leave Your Luggage service, instead users sign up via the website and are sent labels to print out and attach to bags. When checking out of any of the hotels in Amsterdam, the bags are simply left at reception awaiting pickup and delivery to Schiphol airport by the Courier of leave your luggage. You can then spend your last day enjoying the many Amsterdam museums, cafés and activities without the worry of collecting and carrying luggage to the airport.
Charges and fees
The cost for the Leave Your Luggage service is €25 for the first bag and €10 for each bag thereafter. It is important to note that the price is per item, not by size or weight; whether it is a large suitcase or a laptop bag you will pay the same, so plan accordingly. This makes the service particularly useful for those large, unwieldy bags that cannot be easily slung over a shoulder.
Airport luggage collection
Leave Your Luggage works in partnership with the official baggage depot at Schiphol airport, meaning there is no hunting for a separate kiosk upon arrival. The baggage depot is open and staffed 24 hours a day, so luggage is always available for collection regardless of flight times. The depot is easily found between Arrivals 1 and 2 in the main airport concourse.
