Eden Hotel Amsterdam - Hampshire Eden
A budget Eden Hotel, formerly Best Western Eden Hotel, now member of the Hampshire Hotel Chain, is one of the several hotels in Amsterdam having Eden in the name. The other are - Eden Amsterdam American Hotel, Eden Amsterdam Centre, Eden Rembrandt Square Hotel and Eden Lancaster Hotel. All these hotels belong to the same hotel chain, but they are all more expensive. We mention this fact at the beginning of our review, because three star Eden Hotel is decent low cost lodging, without a big pretension. Its main qualities are its location and its good service.
Location
Eden Hotel is located in the centre of Amsterdam, in the building from 1780 and it has been thoroughly renovated not so long ago. Looking at the Amstel River, the hotel is also situated in the vicinity of the Rembrandtplein, in a lively area with many cafés and clubs, with an interesting shopping and dinning street (Utrechtsestraat) within a short walking distance.

Eden Hotel rooms
The rooms at Eden Hampshire Hotel are very well equipped, clean, beds are perfect, bathrooms well functioning. All rooms are air-conditioned. Windows (which despite the air-conditioning can an be opened) of several rooms look into the courtyard with not so pleasant view, while Amstel River view rooms are great, but a bit more expensive.
Eden Hotel has rooms especially adapted for the handicapped people.
Dining
There is a bra fast room, a bar called Pipa’s with a lounge and a French restaurant in the hotel. Local bakery (Patisserie Kuyt) delivers its pastry to the hotel.
Hotel Services
Eden Hotel has 24 hours reception, and complimentary baggage storage, which is important considering size of some of its rooms. Eden Hotel has a lift which is an exception among low cost hotels in Amsterdam.
The hotel’s public spaces attractively modernized in 2006 are non smoking and air-conditioned. Two computers in the lobby give you a free access to Internet, while in the rooms you have WiFi connection, but you have to pay for this service. The hotel has also a conference room, and a laundry. Souvenir shop and a bicycle rental are nearby.
And sorry – no pets.
The feel
A simple hotel, with traditional and sometimes small rooms without any thrill or pretense. Good value for money, though. Book earlier - Eden Hotel happens to be fully booked because of its prices and location.
