Grachtenfestival – Canal Music Festival in Amsterdam
Each summer in the middle of August, a unique festival of classical music and jazz takes place in the Amsterdam Old City center. Having as venue different public buildings, museums, theaters, open space places, pontoon boats on the canals, even private houses and apartments Grachtenfestival recitals are a genuine chance for a music lover.
Some of the concerts may be attended on private boats and viewed from water, while other are held indoors and sometimes even combined with the meal.
Each year a different program
Held since 1997 Canal Music festival has each year an original, different program. In the last years the number of concerts grew with up to 50 000 spectators attending from the Netherlands and abroad.
Grachtenfestival tickets
Most of the concerts cost around €20; some of the concerts are free but to attend the ticket is required too; Stadspas-holders, CJP holders have 50% discount on admission to selected concerts.
We advise you to buy your tickets on-line but you may also buy them at the venue. The tickets will not be refunded. For details, see the festival website.
Arrive at your concert in time. If you arrive late and the venue is already full, the door will be closed, you will not be admitted and your tickets will be voided. Several concerts are available for the handicapped – consult the festival website for more information.

Usually it is ten days in the middle of August.
