Inside Design Amsterdam
Amsterdam is aiming at becoming an important fashion and design centre of Northern Europe. Each year in September, a festive and playful event is being organized by a Dutch interior decoration magazine Elle Wonen – Inside Design Amsterdam. Four days long festival presents exhibitions and lectures about design, fashion shows and product presentations. Each year a few selected themes dominate the event. The themes of the 2007 Inside Design were `food design´, `landscape architecture´ and ´exhibition architecture´.
A number of Amsterdam shops, restaurants, hotels, galleries and museums participate in the event. Each of them tries to organize additional presentation of the individual designers and usually offers special discounts during. Central stage of the Inside Design is Westergasfabriek park, with the main exhibition of the whole event and the design shop.
Inside Design Amsterdam participants receive a map with all shops and institutions taking part in the event, thus they are able to plan their own visiting route.
Inside Design Amsterdam days, organized since 2003, are a fine occasion to observe new design trends, exchange ideas and more importantly – to shop.

Westergasfabriek as the central location of the event and several participating shops, galleries, restaurants and museums around the city.
How to get there
From Central Station - take a bus line 21 to the stop Van Hallstraat, then walk (3 minutes, just across the busy Haarlemmerstraat way) to the Westergasfabriek.
From Leidseplein – take a tram line 10 to the stop Van Limburg Stirumplein and walk (5 minutes, via a small side street on the right side of the square) to the Westergasfabriek.
The organizers suggest renting a bicycle in one of the city rental places as mcbike to move between all locations of the event scattered around the city. Another possibility is to take ´a Johnny Loco shuttle bike´ - a free bicycle from the Westergas Park to Sissy-Boy clothing shop at Magna Plaza shopping mall and walk around further.
Tickets
For € 9.50 you receive a passe partout valid for four days, for all events. This ticket gives also a visitor right to numerous rebates and special offers at the participating shops.
