Jordaan Festival
The Jordaan Festival is a music festival on the streets of the Jordaan, celebrating the love for the neighborhood and its diversity. Against the backdrop of poverty, dirt and hard work a vibrant musicstyle emerged in this neighborhood. Artists such as Johnny Jordaan, Willy Alberti and Manke Nelis sang of their love for Amsterdam and their neigborhood, romanticising the often tough life in the Jordaan. During the festival there are folk singers, drum bands, a children's festival, opera, cabaret a boules competition and a flea market. The festival is held at the Appeltjesmarkt.
