V-hotel Frederiksplein Amsterdam
At first you enter a wide lobby - practically one space divided only by different floor levels, a lunge with an open fireplace, a reception desk, a small bar, a breakfast space and a small air-conditioned computer room separated from the rest by a glass wall with two 22 inch iMacs waiting to be used. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed as everything seems to work in this new (opened in March, 2008) hip hotel. V-hotel Friederiksplein is one of the two twin hotels in Amsterdam, intelligently run by the same people (the other is V-hotel Victorieplein). While similar in its business idea, sited in other parts of the city, the two hotels offer utterly different atmospheres.

Location
V-hotel Friederiksplein is conveniently located in the city centre, just at the edge of the canal ring, not far from Utrechtsestraat with many interesting shops and some good restaurants and in a short walking distance (10 minutes) from the Rijksmuseum. This location is the hotel’s main attraction. Another plus of the V-hotel Frederiksplein is its special ambiance - its lobby space really invites you to hang out.
Rooms
The 48 rooms upstairs are very small. They are more a neatly designed sleep-in spaces with the bed taking most of their space and not much of it left. The idea is that you will not stay much in your room anyway, while visiting the wonderful city of Amsterdam. Nevertheless, the rooms are exceptionally clean, have very good beds, flat screens, cable TV, safe, WiFi Internet. There is also a tiny lift to the upper floors.
Service
The service at V-hotel Friederiksplein is still young. These people unquestionably do not have much experience yet, but they try to make it up with kindness and hospitality.
