Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam
A captivating video and music projection dedicated to an artist or group of artists. Some say it is like living in a painting.
The Fabrique des Lumières concept
A large industrial building Westergasfabriek was repurposed for a large-scale artistic video projection.
But it is not like a cinema where the image is projected only on one wall. All walls and the ceiling and even the floor are covered with moving projections. And there are multiple rooms and corridors. The projections are in the style of an artist to which the show is dedicated. This is supported by music or ambient soundtrack. Usually also dedicated to some famous musician or musical band.
You will also, through a digital tour, visit locations connected with these artists. For example in the Dali & Gaudi show it is places like Parc Güel, Casa Batlló, Casa Milà or the Sagrada Família.
Focused on an artist or group
The individual exhibitions are dedicated to specific group of artists at one time. Usually two shows alternate for three months and then the shows and artists change. You can check the harmonogram on the reservation page. Here are some past, present and future examples:
- Spanish painter Dali and Spanish architect Gaudi combined with music of Pink Floyd and composer George Gershwin
- English photographer Jimm Nelson
- Austrian painters Gustav Klimt and Friedensreich Hundertwasser
- Dutch painters Vermeer and Van Gogh
