Amsterdam low emissions zone
Amsterdam is dedicated to improve the air quality in the city.That comes at the cost of regulating access of some poluting vehicles into the city center.
Various names for zone
LEZ Amsterdam means Low Emissions Zone Amsterdam
In Dutch language it is called Milieuzone.
Low emissions area
The area is encircled by the ring road A10. The A10 road is the border of the low emission zone. Driving on the A10 road is allowed for vehicles that are banned to enter the low emissions area.

The road to P+R RAI and to the southern entrance of RAI is exempt from the LEZ.
What vehicles are banned
The LEZ regulations impact passenger cars, trucks, delivery vans, taxis, buses and scooters. So large and small vehicles are all regulated.
Regulated are vehicles with diesel engines. And also older mopeds with petrol engines.
Vehicles categories banned entry into LEZ Amsterdam
Mopeds and motorised bicycles manufactured earlier than 2010 with fossil fuels engines.
Cars with emissions standard Euro 0, 1, 2, 3 engines.
Lorries and trucks in categories N2 and N3 with emissions standard Euro 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 diesel engines.
Vans with emissions standard Euro 0, 1, 2, 3 diesel engines.
Busses with emissions standard Euro 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 diesel engines.
Motorhomes with emissions standard Euro 0, 1, 2, 3 diesel engines.
Penalties
The penalty for breraking the rules are:
mopeds - €75
cars, vans, busses - €110
lorries and trucks - €280
How to reach Amsterdam center
If you drive a vehicle that is forbidden to enter the low emissions area, you can park the vehicle at a P+R parking lot and continue by using the public transport.
Following P+R parking lots are outside of this zone and are accessible to all diesel vehicles: P+R Sloterdijk, P+R RAI, P+R Johan Cruijff Arena, Weekend P+R VUMC.
