Food Festivals

Various Locations
Amsterdam goes food festival crazy this June, with three separate events taking place at various times. From 4–7 June, Taste of Amsterdam comes to the Amstelpark with stalls from Dutch and international chefs and restaurants, wine tastings and plenty more. For vegetarians, the Viva Las Vega’s food festival in and around the Old School restaurant showcases the delights of vegetarian and vegan menus on 27 June. If even that seems a bit too mainstream, the Dutch Raw Food Festival on 14 June at the Langerlust farm near Gaasperplas Lake might be what you’re looking for. Check the website of each event for ticket prices and availability.

UNESCO World Heritage Weekend

Various Locations, 14 June
For one weekend every summer, the Netherlands celebrates its nine UNESCO World Heritage sites. The 17th-century Canal Ring that makes up Amsterdam’s city centre was declared a UNESCO site in 2010 and visitors on this weekend can expect guided walking and boat tours to explain the history and significance of the canals. Details on the exact schedules of tours are yet to be announced, but the World Heritage Podium in De Bazel conference centre on Vijzelstraat should be the first port of call for any interested travellers.
