Bicycle Hotel Amsterdam

This is a no-nonsense budget hotel, in fact more of a hostel than a real hotel. Nevertheless, you get your separate room, even if you decided to rent a room with shower and toilet in the hall. From a very modest lobby, via steep and narrow staircase, you get to your room. They are all small, rather dark, narrow, giving you relief in the summer heat but not very warm in winter, as the whole house itself. The furniture at Bicycle Hotel is on an economy level, feels unplanned, but beds are good and you get a simple TV set with almost 30 channels, several in English. All rooms have a simple sink with a mirror, so you can brush your teeth or just wash your hands. Breakfast (included in already low price of the room) is simple, but tasty and the food is fresh.

Bicycle Hotel’s good reputation is based upon several extra factors which should not be overlooked: very sociable staff, bicycle rental at the hotel for mere € 5,- per day, free Internet in a breakfast room on one of the two hotel’s computers or via WiFi on your laptop in all rooms, supermarket nearby, parking possibilities for your motorcycle or car in the street nearby (far easier than in the centre of Amsterdam; it costs € 20,- for a day-ticket at the meter, only coins accepted), lively neighborhood (De Pijp district), good communication with the city centre (tram, very convenient). As you may see - you get quite a lot for the price you pay.
