Amsterdam budget hotels
Amsterdam has many of small, inexpensive hotels, but to find the place we could fully recommend might be difficult. As they operate on much smaller budget than their bigger counterparts, not always they are able to deliver service which would absolutely satisfy your needs. Most of them have rather small rooms, typical for houses in Amsterdam steep stairs and rarely a lift. Nevertheless, in all these hotels there are rooms for a pleasant stay in the city. To find the one you will like, read the room descriptions in our free reservation system (you will find them at the Select room menu) and try to make your reservation earlier, when your choice is bigger.
Hotel des Arts (18 rooms)
An old 17th century Amsterdam townhouse, with steep stairs and rooms overlooking the city centre - family run Hotel des Arts is simple and hospitable. It is located in the very busy spot of the old centre, with a tram stop in front of the hotel and within 10 minutes walking distance from the Central Station. Upon your arrival, you may just walk to Hotel des Arts, rolling your luggage through one of the liveliest streets in Amsterdam.
Address: Rokin 154 - 156
Bellevue Hotel (76 rooms)
This hotel located in three adjoining houses connected inside, almost faces the Central Station, however it is located on another side than the Red Light District. More expensive than most of budget hotels, Bellevue Hotel offers charm and comfort worth the surcharge. Its interior is very basic, but it feels clean and modern with its modern furniture, ambient lighting and small elegant architecture details.
Bicycle Hotel (16 rooms)
A pleasant and really inexpensive hotel. The name says it all – a very practical hotel, but without any unnecessary comfort and as may expect - with a bicycle rental at the hotel. Some of the less expensive rooms have a shared shower and toilet in the hall. Bicycle Hotel staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean and it is located in the lively Pijp area of town.
Address: Van Ostadestraat 123
City Hotel (29 rooms)
This is a modest hotel located in the direct proximity of the Central Station, at the busy traffic street on the bank of the Ij Lake. The street has a separate parking bay at this spot, so the traffic noise is not very annoying inside. A big guarded parking lot on the other side of the street makes City Hotel a good spot to arrive to Amsterdam by car.
Address: Prins Hendrikkade 130
Hotel Crystal (17 rooms)
Really affordable and well equipped, although not much fun. Rooms are very basic and there is no lift. Nevertheless, Hotel Crystal is quiet, it has a friendly staff and it is centrally located near Amsterdam most busy square – Leidseplein.
Hotel Rembrandt (17 rooms)
A quiet, simple hotel located a bit off centre, in the Artis ZOO area. If you mind just to walk for 10 minutes to the heart of the old city, there is a tram stop in front of the hotel. Hotel Rembrandt rooms are well equipped, with cable TV showing also channels in English. Do not confuse Hotel Rembrandt with two other hotels in Amsterdam bearing Rembrandt’s name – Rembrandt Centrum and Eden Rembrandt Square – both are more expensive.
Trianon Hotel (52 rooms)
Located directly at the famous Amsterdam Concertgebouw Philharmonic and the Museumplein, Trianon Hotel is a simple and basically equipped budget hotel. Its rooms are small, its rates not the lowest in town, but it is clean, quiet and located in the elegant area of Amsterdam.
Hotel Washington (21 rooms)
This two star hotel is located at a quiet side street in South Amsterdam, nearby Museumplein and the US Consulate, hence the name. Its building is a hundred years old family house, turned into a hotel without much rebuilding or redecorating. Hotel Washington has a long, narrow staircase, bigger rooms than in other low cost hotels and large, old fashioned windows. No restaurant, but a nice family-like breakfast room. There is a possibility to park your car in the street nearby (metered parking), or in the garage under Museumplein.
