Steakhouse Piet de Leeuw in Amsterdam
Amsterdam is a busy city and it is smart to make a restaurant reservation in advance. You can do so through our main Amsterdam restaurants page.
The cosy eatery has its original ‘brown pub’ characteristics from the authentic wooden furnishings, oil ceiling to the beer engines on display. Its interior dating from 1949, contributes to creating a traditional Dutch atmosphere which is complimented by their local regulars, offering real Amsterdam to you on and off the plate.
The menu, much like the restaurant, has the same items available since its opening, which include their famous ‘Beefsteak’ and ‘Fried Sole.’ Current owner Luuk has however broadened the range, modernizing to include dishes like the ‘Sate,’ ‘Sweetbread’ and ‘Fried Mussels.’
During your visit to Piet de Leeuw you may expect to hear old and new Dutch music playing in the background, that relaxes the atmosphere within the restaurant, which despite its appearance, is by no means a pub. With a single set menu of warm dished, they offer no cold lunches, but it’s possible to have a selection of starters like ‘Herring’ or ‘Eel’.
Whether it’s a quiet lunch or lively dinner, Piet de Leeuw famed for many years, is the perfect location for an inexpensive bite with a friend of two.
Open 12-11pm (mon-fri), 5-11pm (sat-sun)
